WTB: 416-8Z OR 416-8B Woofers for Valencias (disregard my other post)

Hello - I'm looking to buy a pair of 416-8Z or 416-8B woofers to go into a later set of Valencia 846U cabinets. If you have a pair or even one that you'd like to sell, please drop me a line. They need to be in ready to play condition, with the 16" frames. Thanks, Jim

I wonder why you seek either the 8Z or 8B 416 and exclude the 8A models?

Not sure here but the 846 has the woofer mounted from the rear side and uses the 15 inch frame.

The 8B frame is 16 inch and can be mounted from either side if there is enough room inside for the extra inch of flange.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the 416 line of woofers as the 416-8A came in both 15 and 16 inch frames while the "B" is only 16 inch.

Let us know if the 16 inch fits right in or if it is necessary to front mount it. I don't have an 846 box here to compare.

Both the 846A, 'B' cabs used rear mounted drivers, with the 'B' all using the 16" frame AFAIK. The 416'A' series are all 15", with all 'B' and later series being 16" AFAIK. Considering all the other Altec inconsistencies brought to light here though.........
